When I was a brand new Jarhead, I was stationed at NWS Yorktown, VA. This was in 1982 and it was mostly guard duty, manning the gates, guarding weapons, the pier and buildings, etc, etc. I’ve heard that most of the Marine duties there now are filled by civilian police, but back then we had about 200 Marines there manning a lot of different posts. It was good duty.
